Hi All, Wondering if ne1 can plz tell me, what is the sector size in bytes on a DVD and how many sectors are there on a 4.7GB disc. Thanks.

Sector size = 2048. Sectors varies from disc to disc slightly, here is what my current batch comes up as: 2,297,888

@ Lightning UK, Thankx a bunch for the prompt reply. What I understand from your post is that a 4.7GB disc has 2,297,888 sectors and each sector is 2048 bytes, right ? You mentioned that sectors vary from disc to disc, how do I calculate it ? What would tell me if there is a difference ? Regards.

They should not vary :( You can easily find out the number of sectors with cdrecord-prodvd and with dvddecryptor
