Hi guys! I started a program last year where I take a few days off work to go into schools to show kids music technology. There has been far too much gun violence amongst our youth, and 3 musician friends of mine were killed, so this is a mission for me, not a job. In my last visit, I brought a bunch of synthesizers and drum machines to a school and let the kids go nuts. You can see photos here: Anyway, I've recently moved and am in a new city and am trying to get back into the swing of things. This time around, the school has invited me to show 7th graders how to use computers for recording. I've decided to demo Reaper since that's a tool they could afford to purchase on their own. Problem is, I'm more comfortable/familiar with Cubase, ProTools, and Logic. However, I've taken a couple of peaks at it, and it looks pretty sweet. Any recommendations on cool features that I can show the kids? I'm likely going to download a few VST's to highlight the fact that you can replace expensive hardware processors with software effects plugins.

I would start with the basic's Recording and play back. They could have a blast recording all there voice's together and maybe a clap track to simulate applase. Good job by the way. Teach your children well. Bardo

Free vsti synths are so fun... Ahem... I mean the synth plugins may be very educational too.
