Electrics fail

Have you got an airbag on your car ? If you have be a bit careful what you are doing around the steering column. I think you can get at the switch ok without taking the steering wheel off. Just carefully remove the cowling and avoid pulling the bright orange airbag wires about. You might have to remove the lower dash cover but it will make getting at things easier. The switch looks quite easy to replace, might even be worth getting one from a breakers just to try first.

Electrical mysteries 

My thanks to all three will keep posted on events. Have not yet tried the block/body earth strap but will do. At the moment I've had to put the battery back on charge again. last night I had charged the battery and put it back on with the glorious sound of the alarm turned off by fob. But still only warning lights were lambda, oil, park brake and seat belt and no start. Lights fine and did not dim on turning key for starter. Tonight fob would not open locks. Opened by key no alarm. Tried the silly of disconnecting and re-connecting battery no alarm. No start no warning lights. Chatting to passing neighbour alarm goes off fob will not turn off have to disconnect battery. Re-connect battery no alarm no warning lights no start battery flat. Battery now on charge!!!!!!!!!!
