I am running into some problems hooking up my new xlr to xlr patchbay in front of my pres and 002R. The XLR is wired straight through. signal chain is as follows: lrg diaphragm> xlr patchbay> M610 preamp (Phantom power here instead of the 002R)> 002R I am getting no signal into protools. I am using all balanced cables. and have both xlr to xlr and xlr to trs patch cables. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Forgive my ignorance, but I have never seen and XLR patchbay. Who makes it? My first thought would be that phantom power cannot run through the patchbay. I have never tried to do it, but it doesn't seem like a good idea. Also, how is the 'bay configured? Normalled, half-normalled, etc. Just check your signal chain starting with the mic. Also, try a dynamic and see if that works. Good luck, Geoff
I will make sure I have line selected and that I am patched into the 1/4" line input. Should I use channel 1-4 or 5-6? 5-6 totally bypasses the gainstage of the 002R pres in channel 1-4?

Really? I've always run my patchbay after my board and pre amps. That way phantom power goes directly from the pre/board to the mic. Who makes the XLR patchbay? I want to check it out. I have only seen TT, phono and digital. Are the jacks female or male or one of each? Just doesn't seem practical. What about when you want to switch from normalled to half-normalled, etc.? G
