I have a problem with my encoded video files. When I use the d2v file from DVD2AVI with the 'TV Scale' option, I turn on 'Output YUV data as Basic YCbCr not CCIR601' under the 'Quantize Matrix' settings in TMPG and to make the image go slightly darker to correct the brightness (cause 'TV Scale' increases the brightness) back to it's original state. But the problem this causes is on movies with Aspect Ratios of 2.35:1, 4 blackbars appear when playing back on the TV (the 2 on top are a different brightness and as are the 2 on the bottom as well). The outer ones are added by my DVD Player and the inner ones are encoded into the video stream by TMPG. Well the inner one is noticeably darker than the other one. If I turn off the 'Output YUV data...', this fixes the double black border problem by slightly increasing the brightness but now the movie's dark scenes are showing up macroblocks (big ugly purple pixels) due to that increase. I tried 'PC Scale' but the 2 problems is the movie itself is too dark in dark scenes or the macroblocks appear again. What I really want to know is can I use a d2v file from DVD2AVI using the 'PC Scale' to use the full range of colors and have TMPG not at all play with the color, leaving the brightness alone? If possible where is that magical setting. Thank you for reading
