hi does anyone know if you would get any significant gains from changing normal intercooler pipes for thr reverse ones on a t5? thanks dan:Banane45:
--------------------- It's not speed that kills, it's the speed difference that does. Obviously you aren't going fast enough. Turning Benjamins into noise since 1997 I read a list of the 100 things you MUST do before you die. Funny, "Yelling 'HELP'" didn't make the list!
I heard that it spools the turbo up sooner too, due to the shoter distance of the traveling air. I have a Q. why is it called a 'reverse intercooler'? - surely it should be known as a normal intercooler and the recent ones are the reversed coolers as they were implemented after?? and does anyone know why they changed it? there must be some logical reason as theres now more pipework to consider and to construct.
The reverse intercooler setup does give quicker throttle response and faster turbo spool up times but the newer pipework route gives a cooler charge of air due to the longer route giving the air more time to cool in the extra alumminium pipework. The ideal setup would be the reverse setup with an upgraded aftermarket intercooler.

YEAH BUT AIR UNDER PRESSURE DOESN'T HAVE TIME TO RISE UNDER CONVECTION, AS ITS TREATED AS A FLUID WHEN DYNAMIC.... ALSO IF THE PIPE SARE COLD THATS VALID BUT IF THE PIEPS HAVE SUFFERED FROM HEAT SOAK THE LONGER PIPE MAY HEAT THE AIR CHARGE... oops sorry jusy looked up and realised i was shouting.. soz.... so i guess in summary, straighter direct routing though insulated lines from the apropriate sized intercooler is best for function / performance... that being the case makes me wonder why more peple don't put insulating jackets over the turbos and exhaust manifolds... (did this on my bike previously to stop the rear pot cooking the rear shock oil and loosing the damoing... made a hell of a difference.. i was very surprised...
