Out of interest - What plugins are you using? and is the project sample rate the same as the media sample rate?

so, I'm thinking the next step is to back up the audio drive and reformat it. I was looking at the motherboard and I see that the HDDs are sharing a channel, and I have a CDrom on the secondary channel? could this be a problem? If I wanted to split the HDD's to each channel, which one would I share with the CDRW?

is Processor scheduling set to Background services? control panel > system > advanced > performance > settings > advanced

no, not on the boot drive. I stumbled upon an installation of windows on the audio drive... Don't know how it got there, I've been through 10+ drives since I've had this computer
