Just performed and 6 month oil service on car today was gutted when i saw the state of the sump nut...resorted to taking the car to a mechanic with proper tools for removing the totally rounded off nut..apart from being rounded there was no washer in place..the last person or persons to touch my car were stratstones the main dealers in birmingham who performed the dodgy service on it...when i went in today to get a new sump nut i saw why they are having so many problems..of the 9 or so alleged mechanics/technicians as they call them none looked over the age of 20...i saw a S60 like mines on a ramp with a kid trying to tear off the protective cover underneath which seemed a highly difficult task for him and it took me less then 2 mins using normal ramps which raise car only about 12 inches...asked service manger as to explain why my sump nut is in such a state .."you may have used the wrong tool when you did your last service sir!"....no the last peopel to touch thecar were your alleged techys....no it couldnt have been anyone here i was told ...i decided as i have been very quite on previous **** ups bt these morons i will make abit of scene which i did and effictively put off one bloke from handing over his car...i did mention my missing performance bulbs..my service book not being stamped etc etc..i calmyy as i entered i left and dealt with the rounded up sump nut... blood pressure down rant over:angry2: next main now to be done by Johnson volvo
Dude, As long as you know Johnsons & have a bit of trust/relationship with them. I took my 760 into ***** in Coventry the other week & they struggled to open the boot. It needed a tyre to get through the MOT so when they phoned me to tell me I said, well just stick the spare on to which they replied "We can't open the boot". I said "Have you tried the key", they said "Erm, mumble mumble etc". Eventually they managed it & I know it's a bit different when we're talking about your new sporty model & my old one but you know what I mean. Ben
hi, i smell bad publicity... good man for speaking out, too many people dont want a confrontation and just let things ride. as a nation we need to be more vocal. wayne
I remember buying a walkman when I was young (7 or 8) which didn't work. The trader wouldn't give me my money back & so I mentioned it to my dad who pulled up a stool & stood on it in front of this guys shop & begun to address the crowd town crier style to make sure they were all aware of the bad customer service we were getting. Saying that I've just self edited my previous post, there may be legal issues I haven't considered naming & shaming :0) Ben
--------------------- life it is a senseless way...
Hi, I take it you'll not be visiting stratstones in Birmingham again..!! I am sure there are pleanty other startstones branches that would love to get their hands on your car to "fix it"... :D  Joking apart though Mo, I would get good quality pictures, print them and send a nicely worded complaint to Volvo UK. Let them stew in their own s##t... Des. . . ;)
Thought Stratsones in Brum had gone? I went in for a cambelt tensioner for a 16v 940 and the guy on the parts desk spoke to me like he thought I was some kind of moron. Well Mr parts desk man, if youre reading this, im not a moron, you are. Have to say though, the service i recently recieved at Stoke Volvo was second to none, and Shrewsbury.
S60-MBS, Its episodes like you have experienced that make me DiY ( whenever I can) with servicing/repairs. It seems to be that 'good' quality car service/repair shops are not the norm. Dave
