Bought my Volvo with 70k on clock. Now 154k and still brilliant (run Volvos for 30 years!) However I have serious misgivings everytime I pull away at roundabouts as the intial acceleration has ALWAYS been terrible. Right foot hard down and I even turn off aircon to help! When the car is rolling 15-20mph no problem..it really moves.. is this problem turbo lag? Would welcome suggestions Tks Chris
Agree with the turbo cutting in at 2500...... I believe the 2 litre however has what I would consider a high reving engine as opposed to the 2.3 litre. My 2.3 fk has lots of low down torque pulling like a train at 1000rpm+. When I changed to a 2 litre normally aspirated I found that the engine had to whizz to get any power. Somehow I like the pulling like a train with high torque at the lower revs as opposed to the higher revving engines and I find that the new diesels are great for this. Cheers Nigel
a little bit of the topic but i had a 740 turbo auto with 175000m and it pulled a lot quicker of the line upto about 20 mph than my manual t5 despite being 50 hp down and an auto.( after 20 ish mph the t5 really flys).2v per cylinder produces a lot more low down torque than mulitvalves which have to be revved above 2500rpm to get the power.
