Hello everyone. I just noticed (yeah, and it took me this long:)) that the playback volume of the rendered .wav file is quite a bit quieter than the volume of the project in Reaper. Why is this? Thanks.

What program are you playing back the rendered file with?

Check 2 things. First, is WMP set to max volume? Next, WMP will be playing back via a WDM driver which will have a separate volume control than your ASIO driver. Make sure it is set properly too.

This little wrinkle could be relevant.... If the REAPER master level fader is set to +4dB for example: 1) That 4dB boost is part of what you hear when listening to the unrendered project tracks. 2) The 4dB boost affects the level of a rendered project file, boosting it by 4dB. 3) If you ticked the check box to add the rendered output file to the REAPER project, and then solo that track and listen to the rendered file in REAPER, without touching the master fader, then what you hear is boosted by 4dB+4dB=8dB! The master level fader boost is doubled up - once in the render process and then again during playback.

Thanks everyone. As I was sure to have the WMP volume maxed, I didn't check the driver volume - as that wasn't. It's a new 'puter (about a week old) and I never checked that. Thanks for all the help.
