These both have doubled bass: Left and right are EQ'd identically, a lot of the high end is rolled off. Obviously it's not a snappy articulate sound, just pure low end. I used my guitar Pod Pro for a preamp. If I recall correctly the patch I use for bass is based on a MESA amp, clean channel, no speaker emulation.

Now that I think of it, there's something besides the usual compression that I use more often than not but I guess its just a matter of personal taste/style.. which is using a chorus. I feel that it gives a more human-like sound to it.. I guess thats just my attempt at sounding like Tony Levin on my acoustic bass :D

Yes I think I heard that in the other thread. I love that sound! It is very articulated (the lovely smooth almost clicky attack) while still being very full and round. Nice. The Major Tom above is the commercial VST version. I think you must have tried the JS version which comes with reaper. They are almost the same but I like the pretty picture and the meters are useful. I don't always play sub-Jaco (though his stuff still completely blows me away). That's how I play if I go into a guitar shop to try a bass :D My biggest influence is actually Norman Watt-Roy who played with Ian Dury and the Blockheads and on countless records as a session player and now plays with Wilko Jonhson. These days I try to play as little as possible. If I listen to the stuff I recorded in late 80's early 90's, I just want to tell my younger self to slow down, play less notes. stop skittering all over the bloody fretboard and for god's sake go out and get laid so's you calm down a bit boy! ahem anyway :D

I just made a bass clip using: Old Fernandez PJ type bass. both pickups Peckerhead - Voxengo - Majortom (the boring JS one). The IR is a 8x10 Ampeg one, and I low passed it around 5 Khz Compression ratio was 3.8 I could do with a bit of help as I just treated my room. it sounds good to me, but may bit deeper than I intended. I didn't know what to play, so i just made something up - sorry about that :D
