Noob with simple question

When connecting a Midi keyboard/controller to an Mbox2, do you need midi cables connected to both in and outs (2 cables?) How bout the USB? If you connect to the Mbox2. do you still need to USB up to the computer? Thanks. JB

If your controller doesn't have a built-in sound generator/synth, there's really no need to connect a MIDI cable from the MBox (out) to the controller (in). Many keyboards doesn't even have USB ports, so MIDI is the way to go then. Connect the MBox USB directly to your computer, or a good active USB hub.

Thanks but I\'m still confused 

My Edirol keyboard has midi in and out, the Mbox2 has Midi in/out, the keyboard has USB. The keyboard manual is over my head and of course makes no mention of Protools (even though the website has Protools drivers which I already downloaded) Protools does not seem to recognize the keyboard. Still got some reading to do I guess. John
