new guy with idiot user question: can I cut/copy/paste audio and or midi as easy as mouse clicks in REAPER somehow? I can't seem to find it. I been able to figure most of the rest of it out, but not this. I tried to highlight areas of audio and do stuff but I can seem to do it easily. Is there a switch or setting to allow that? I tried SEARCH here with no luck, but have not fully read the manual yet. Thanks in advance

To see these options look under the Edit menu or right click with your mouse. Pete

Thanks, but yeah I tried that an I'm not getting it. Maybe it's is because it is an MP3 that I can not grab and move things? Left click just slides the whole sound back and forth, and right click LOOKS like it wants to select a section, but does not. I'm sure it's something very simply I'm missing, as I've used a number of software DAWs before. I'm stumped. I'll do some reading and testing. Thanks anyway

Put your cursor where you want to cut something and press the "s" key (slice). Now right click to copy, put your cursor there you want to paste it (different track, whatever) right click and choose paste. If you have an area highlighted, right click and choose Copy selected area of selected item and paste as I described. If you want to move something, left click it and drag it anywhere you want it to go. MIDI, wav, mp3 it all works the same. Now all that said, if track locking or item locking is on, then you will not (and should not) be able to move these. Hope that helps.

Also, lasso highlighting is done with right mouse button by default (click in empty area and drag ), which can seem unusual if you come from other DAWs.
