Is there a way to select only a specific part of an item to process, for example to normalize, leaving the rest of the item unchanged? The only way I've found to process one specific part of an item only is to split the item into several items first and then do the item processing. It seems there must be an easier, smoother way to do this? Any help would be appreciated as always. I'm working with version 4.31.

That is THE way to do it. Not really that tough, it just may be different than other DAW's. But that's how that kind of stuff works in Reaper.

Hi there 1.Well you can either cut it into pieces 2.You can automate reacomp wet knob to bring down levels in certain parts 3.You can use reacontrol midi send to automate reacomp wet knob on the target track 4.You can use an external wav editor like I use Just add it the path to it in Reapers Preferences.

To add to my response, you can split, process the desired part, select all the parts and Glue or render them back into one piece, post processing. That makes for a neater visual, if not easier or smoother. And of course you could create Custom Actions that might do most of this for you with one or 2 shortcut keys.
