im trying to encode a mpeg2 to avi but i face some problem i use the dvd2avi to do a project and use the avs to make it readable for virtualdub. i have try encode it for a few times, but the sound like always have sync problem... even though i make it to sync but the sound will go out of sync after a few secs.. my source of the movie come from VHS which i use the hauppage to capture. so the source is not a .vob format and the sound is mp2. will it actually affact the result even though its not .vob format ??? im using the divx3 to encode the movie and convent to mp3 for the sound

I would recommend you try the search feature on this board and there or here I am sure this subject has come up before. Have you checked out the settings in nandub under video>frame rate?. There are some options there for delaying the audio. I believe there are some other ways with tmpegenc of curing this problem. One way I think I read was using something like goldedit or cooledit to stretch the audio to match the video. I am not really sure but do a search and you will find the answer for sure that you are looking for ......;)

if you capture it from vhs, try the Capture Function of Virtual Dub i have nice encodes with that, and my sound doesnt get out of synch. and you can directly encode in divx - if your cpu has enough power ;)

sounds to me like a performance problem, what cpu do you have? and what quality setting have you set with the slider in the properties of the divx decoder? try to lower it....
