Fellow PT users.... WHAT do you use for chorus and/or doubling in the MAC/PT environment? I have Waves' Doubler, TL Phase, and the PT 'Chorus'. What is 'the bomb', in RTAS, so I can dial it in in real time? The native chorus is a bit lame. I actually teach mixing to students mostly in PTLE, so what does Digidesign offer? What 3rd party RTAS stuff is good? Thanks a bunch for any help.

Hmmmmm.... Depends. I tend to use the DIGI Delays for chorus and flange and ADT type effects. I'll use (as I most often do) the LPF set to 12khz, sorta to give a roll off to the repeats. If using a mono/stereo delay plugin as an insert on a mono track I set up as below: I'll set one delay at 0% mix. the other delay 100% mix with 10-20ms delay, then modulate that delay a bit using depth, rate and maybe feedback. Feedback I tend to use for more of a flange sound. If a stereo insert or as a send/return setup, I will do as above but will set the first delay also to 100% and set the delay maybe half the delay time as the other. Experiment with this. Lots of neat stuff to come up with. Hope this helps.

Avox choir is something I've been using. It effects pitch, and vibrato: It's not perfect but certainly interesting.

Thanks! I'd have never thought of that, I'll give it a try.

I bought Amplitube Live LE to get real time flange, chorus and tremolo for a bargain price. The delay isn't too bad either.

I always felt the TC Chorus was the best plugin for both chorusing and flanging, but TC Electronics made the TDM version go away (it exists only for Powercore). I've heard if you find a working version, it still operates under PT7, but I don't know that for sure. TC doesn't sell or support it (which is maddening, to say the least).
