i have been on dc now for almost a year, and in that time, have probably downloaded 350GB and uploaded 100GB. i spent the night on hubs all the time and have NEVER had any security issues of any type what so ever. though the rules on the hubs suck, ops are assholes, and users will often cut you off, you can find more there then anywhere else. i've nearly filled a recently-received 120GB Maxtor in less then 2 weeks. as far as a private hub goes, that'd be great! i've got plenty to share

so, the hub is up and running. is there any volunteer for testing it out before i make it "public"? i will be awake for the next hour or so, watching this thread. so if anyone is interrested in figuring it allout with me, give me a shout. /jc

i'd recommend making it exclusive only to those who have plenty of quality/rare stuff, as in invitation only. meaning you can't just let any schmuck with ADSL 128 kBit/s upstream sharing 13.03GB into the hub. i think there should be some standards for users to meet. btw, there is no reason for anyone to try it out. if you can connect to it, it works and that's all there is to it. it only took me 2 minutes to configure the interface my first time using it. this isn't an enterprise we're launching :)

well, i runit under linux for several reasons (gotta server in a room, where it doesn't bother me and usually its reliable), but there is a little issue so far. a friend logged in and couldn't properly browse my files, while i could browse his. i shmock have the dsl-line, lol, but i came up with the hub-ideo, so i hope you guys won't ban me ;) i made up a ruleset, i'll pm it to you. (don't want this to be discusse with 2 many people in a hundred page thread..)
