Set the item timebase to beats:length etc. Not automatic, you have to manually set it... then it appears to stretch automatically after that. I have hit and miss success with this also. Example: Take a wave file that's stamped as 120 bpm. If you import it into a project where the tempo is say, 130, and then change it and/or the track timebase to beats so it will stretch, it doesn't stretch/conform immediately on the setting change. When you apply the timebase 'beats: position, length, rate', as soon as you apply that to a track any parts on the track that have embedded tempo information should conform immediately and likewise return back to their normal 0 stretch if it's disabled. It doesn't seem to work that way... but I've been wrong before so... grain of salt.

Hey, thanks for the reply. What you said confirms my point. It's too complicated! It should just work. I forgot to mention that in acid you could preview any type of loop at the projects tempo from the media explorer. ANY! Making it extremely easy to try out many different variations of a loop before adding it to a project.

Yeah sure, good point. What I am saying is that I like manually stretching loops and seeing them stretch as I do it. This way I can line up hits and watch sub phase in real time. I know that Reaper doesn't have the timestretching systems of say Live8 and Protools8. I just thought Guitarkeys might not have known that you can do that so easily.
