"Outside", I reckon: This is what I would do: --Vocals Bus track with EQ and Comp, and with a (Pre-fader) Send to the Send track ---- 4/5 tracks, with the own FX --Send track with Reverb the 4/5 tracks are routed ONLY to the Vocals Bus track. the Vocals Bus track is routed to the Master output (as its Master / Parent Send in enabled) AND the Vocals Bus track is routed to the Send track. the Send track is routed to the Master output (as its Master / Parent Send in enabled). ------------------------- For more of the FXed sound move the Vocals Bus fader up. For more of the FXed, Reverbed sound move the Send track fader up. I hope that that makes sense.

Hey thanks for your help! :) In this case, I can only add the same amount of reverb on all the 4/5 tracks, isn't it? And the vocal bus folder is sent twice in the master (dry and with reverb), isn't it? Sorry for all the questions

Thanks James! I understand... It's weird because it's like I've reached some kind of Reaper's limit... I feel that the best then would be to mix all my vocals tracks seperately. With volume automation, eq, comp etc for each track. The only problem is it will be CPU consuming but I could try... What do you think?

If I understand correctly, I would do this:A folder track named "Vocals Bus", 4/5 individual track in the folder, one for each vocal, for all FX that you want to apply differently to each vocal: put them on the individual tracks and adjust them for each track, for all FX that you want to apply to the combined vocal sound, put them on the "Vocals Bus" track. Of course, you can change any of the FX settings at any time by automating their VST parameters. For example, you may want to increase the Reverb on one of the Lead Vocals for a time then drop it back again.

Ok thank you very much to both of you, I see a bit clearer now. Well, I'm trying to mix vocals without using any track folder at all, or just to group them (if I want to mute all the vocals at once) but without any processing. It gives me a lot of freedom to do this way as long as my PC handles all the plugins... I need to read more about freezing by the way, never used this... (I wonder if it's possible to go back from freezing for example). Many thanks!

Hi! I don't know if it deserves another post... I have another question concerning the use of a comp and the PRE-Fx volume automation. Like with the reverb, the more I lower the post-fx volume envelope, the less the comp (or any effects) works, it becomes less efficient. Is the PRE-Fx volume envelope is the answer to this? So that the comp works after the volume automation is done... Thank you very much

Have a good look at the signal flow path is section 5.22 in the User Guide. That should give you a good understanding of the flow and when pre-fx and post-fx volume controls are applied. If you want any FX to be applied BEFORE an automated volume control then automate the post-fx volume. Also, freezing can be undone, yes. :)

Thanks for your patience ;) I read about it and I'm trying right now, actually, the result is the same with the 3 options : - Post fx envelope - Pre fx envelope - Lowering the volume directly on the item If I look at the comp view meter, it acts exactly the same and it sounds the same too actually. Am I over thinking how it works? EDIT : OK I understand that it changes nothing because the comp is on a track folder. The comp doesn't act the same way if it's on the track folder or on the track itself in relation with the volume automation.

If the Comp is on the track folder then you need to automate the Pre-fx or post-fx volume there. Automating either volume of the individual tracks will not be different because the sound will have its volume changed and then be routed to the folder track. So it appears there as if the volume were automated before the Comp FX. It would help us help you if you could compress your project file (no audio samples needed) into a ZIP file and post it here as an attachment. In Windows, right-click the project file, select Send To ... compressed (Zipped) folder), when you reply, scroll down a bit, open the "Additional Options" section if needed by clicking the double downwards arrows, click on [Manage Attachments], browse to your ZIP file, select and Upload it.
