mmhhh, seem to be a problem with the performance of my hardware and / or REAPER: 1. As I mentioned, with ohter DAWs no problem (less than 10 % CPU usage). 2. TaskManager shows about 60% CPU usage, REAPER PerformanceMeter about 35% (?). 3. The effect is going worse when adding another filter. 4. And, when switching the filters of or even when deleting them, the (relativ) high cpu performance will remain unless I restart REAPER. - Isn't 1. and 4. an indicator, that there is a problem with REAPER? horst p.s.: I'll try another computer with that
Siehorst, maybe post your hardware specs here to see if that could really be a performance problem. If you have an older (AMD XPxxxx+ i.e., with wich I had a lot of performance problems in Reaper), or if there's anything else going on. Cheers Raphael ;)
I use Classic Reverb with Reaper too but with no problems. My single core pc is waaaayyyy slow and I usually hit around 10% when using this. Still, it works just fine.
It's the same with my laptop: 2,2 Ghz DualCore WnXP pro 2Gb RAM, the desktop is a bit older: P4 2,6 Ghz. But nevertheless: why remains the cpu-load when deleting the filters out of the rack? Doesn't that indicate a prob? So, my decission what DAW I will use the next years has become more difficult. And in the end I will stay with my traktion, lol ! horst p.s.: I'm evaluation a lot at the moment, just to give an example (for no other reason!) With sonar 8 I put classic reverb, plus delay plus chorus plus a compressor in one slot and get a cpu load of 15 to 20 % with my old desktop and no drop outs or any other distortion.
