Hello everone, let me start by saying that I mainly play mid. eastern music, and i have tried so hard to find sites that has information regarding modern mid eastern recording and mixing , but no luck, its a secret for some reason,so I thought for fun why would I not ask my western friends to listen to a modern song (about 4 months old song from egypt, a top 10 song)and try to see what one can anaylze and hear and know by just listning, I know this is different kind of music and language (arabic language), my main concern is can we say for sure if it is an analog or a digital feel, if you heard it for the first time would you think this is a "top" of a line mixing and recording product or just an ok job, what main things one would get by hearing the mix, im intrested in how A WESTERN musicians and engineres would look at this mix of this song, which represent the top 10% of all the songs made in the mid east (recording and mixing), thanks for taking the time. here is the song
guys very intresting!!, it sounds to me that the modern arab-mid eastern mix's are done on a different way (lots of short cuts), its funny because if you ask people in the mid east this is one of the best done songs musically in the past 3 months, just surprised.
bro why in the world would i be not telling the truth, the only reason i brought this up is becuase to us (arabs-mid east) this would sound "pro", this song is by a singer named Bahaa sultan, he is from egypt, and im not from egypt. What you guys think arabic music is (what the media here in the states and others) feed to the western public is that we are an acustic music type, that was true 50 years ago, mid east music has been sounding pop like for the last 20 or so years, go to 6arab.com and listen for your self, they have every ara-mid east singer you can think of.
