I installed version 3.4 today. Installed ok. When I clicked on the "Close" button on the installation window, it crashed and I had to terminate it with Task Manager. I then opened one of my projects and it crashed after a few minutes. Even Task Manager couldn't end the process so I had to restart Windows. Opened another project, same thing. A third, a fourth, crashing all the time. No new plugins, just the same ones that always worked before. So then I reinstalled earlier versions, got the same crash at the install window, and those old versions keep crashing too. I've rebooted about ten times in about half an hour. If I click the "fx" button on a track or the add fx button, everything slows down to a crawl and freezes. Even when I uninstall Reaper and click the "close" button, the window crashes and I have to terminate the process. Basically I can't use Reaper anymore. Anybody had any problems with 3.4? Thanx

I'm keen to hear which plugins you're having trouble with. I thought it was just an incompatibility when Waves and Izotope crashed my Reaper to the point that task manager froze too (had to hard reset). This is happening with 32 and 64 bit Reaper for me and on Win7 32 and 64 with either my Digi002r or my Mackie Onyx desks. Reaper works fine if I only use Reaper plugins. edit - Toontrack Superior Drummer 2 (64 bit) works fine in Reaper 64 and Win7 64.

Hi, just FYI, whenever I get such a crash where either Reaper or other DAW will not die even when killing it from the task manager, I shut down the power to my USB sound card, and the process goes away. It's a driver issue. YMMV. HTH

I didn't change any plugs. Just reinstalled to 3.4 and now nothing! I'm restoring windows. Let's see what happens.

Yikes Blastrio!! That sounds a little more serious than my issue! I just added my Lexicon Reverb plugin (32 bit only) and that too is working fine in Reaper 64 with the wrapper. It would seem the only time I'm having the hard crashes with my system is when I try to add Ozone or Waves.

Blastrio, something sounds pretty seriously wrong...just that the installer crashed is pretty strange. maybe try reinstalling with admin rights (right-click the installer, run as administrator)? Dannii, try running ozone in its own process. to do so, open the fx browser, right click ozone, go to run as, and select either separate or dedicated process. see if either of those work. i was running ozone4 (32 bit on vista32) without a hitch here for quite a while (though, i just sold it fairly recently). is it 64 or 32 bit? waves...can be goofy because of the shell they use, but you could try the same with those plugs, and see how it works. either way, with the plugs in their own processes, they shouldn't take reaper down with 'em if they wipe out. k
