Delay tail ending???

Hi all, I've looked on the forum but couldn't find an answer to the following... I used one of the Ohmboys delays last night as insert - a plug-in I know well while using cubase... A setting I like has a nice long filtered delay tail, but when using it in Reaper the tail lasts a a few seconds then stops? I tried other delay plugs where the effect should last a long time, but the same with these - the delay only lasts a short time then stops abruptly. I've looked in the preferences but haven't found a clue... Please!!! Anybody got an idea about this?

Did you "apply FX as new take" with the delay or is it at the end of the project? (That are the only scenarios where it could stop apruptly.) If you "apply FX..." or use per-take FX... use the appropriate tail length parameters in Options->Preferences->Media, if you want to let the delay ring out at the end of the project just place an empty item at the end behind the expected end of the delay.

I don't believe it can be either of these scenarios - this has happended in the middle of a track and while it was playing... I know how the delay should sound so spotted it straight away on first playback. If I play the track soloed the delay is ending sooner than it should - AS IF it were the end of the arrangement - but it isn't. Cheers for the replies guys.

Maybe a dumb question, but is there a noise gate farther along in the chain somewhere that might be cutting the delay off? I can't count the number of times I've done that and then spent ages wondering why the hell my items aren't fading in and out properly.

The Noise-gate idea was my first thought also, but I thought naah. -Data

if you're applying the fx directly to the items, there is a setting in Preferences/Media that allows you to adjust the tail.

Thanks loads for the replies - much appreciated. Must admit the gate issue occured to me as I use the Sonnox one a lot, so I checked and that channel doesn't have a gate installed across it. The delay IS directly added to the item so I can't help thinking then I need to look at altering the time allow in the preferences as livedead13 mentioned. So I'll def be looking into it when I get home. Cheers again guys, grand stuff!

the same thing happens to me i tried all the options above and no joy i first thought that it was just the ohmboyz delay but it seems to affect all delay tails pretty annoying tbh
