question about loop recording and takes

when item is highlighted, and auto loop recording enabled, is there a way to specify the number of times to record a take other than indefinitely? couldn't find a setting. i.e. ONLY do 3 takes of something then stop. thanks in advance.

the reason i ask is... my drums are located 4 floors below my computer. when i record drums with me playing, i set up the metronome for a minute or two of preroll to give me time go down 4 flights of stairs to get there. i might play through the song three or 4 times, but, if in loop record mode, reaper keeps recording during the time i leave the drums and go back upstairs to the control room. i'd love to be able to eliminate that aspect if possible.

Get a remote control of some kind. BTW... how do you set levels for recording that way? Just curious.

levels? via security video camera. works like a charm. only had to do it once really, as the drums are permanently set up, mic'd and ready to go.

WAAAY too much work. right now, i can just delete the take of silence that occurs whilst going up the stairs. still be nice if reaper let you set a number though.

Cool. I thought that was an issue like you wanted to be able to not have to go directly back up stairs but... yeah... that was my first thought. Delete the take? :D Just trying to help...
