Since the clock of the DataSync is not capable of resolving itself to an external source (Word clock, Slave Clock, Video Ref, etc), it can acheive 1/4 frame accuracy (i.e. the resolution of MIDI Time Code). Assuming you are working with 30fps non-drop timecode, there are essentially 120 values per second that the DataSync can use to get its position and send off to the ADAT. At 48kHz sample rate, this translates into an error margin of +/- 400 samples. Although in reality, the lock time never vaies that wildly (ususally within 10-20 samples), frequecies approaching the Nyquist frequency (i.e. the highest frequency that can be sampled accurately or 1/2 the sampling rate) can start to phase due to cancelation. You can simply use your ears and nudge the tracks to line up in time with the rest of the tracks or use a "two pop" at the beginning of each ADAT tape. Then use this as a reference to line up your ADAT tracks in PT once all the tapes have been transferred. Brent
