Look at this image please: If you don't use tooltips, it's much simpler to visualize the panning values if they're on top of the slider, and not the other way around.

bump! Is this so alien to everyone else?!?!? I mean, it makes sense doesn't it? It's a simple tweak to the interface that can ease the process of panning where stuff other than 0 or hard left or hard right is involved...

I totally agree. Tool tips get in the way in REAPER, so this would totally ROCK!

that along with being able to choose a separate colour for the tool tips to the track names. But this is a change worth having!
