Is it intended that any new recording, even if it doesn't add a take to an existing item, gets a take color? I can't record plain and simple non-colored items that display the track color like I am used to and still benefit from the take coloring goodness? Or is there a code for "default" (or "track color") I can put as first line in the .reapalette file or something?

So if we now have a 'recording pass id', how far away are we removed from a 'lane per recording pass' instead of a lane per take ? Yves

Yes, that's a bug. BTW what should happen when you have the coloring preference enabled, you record to two tracks, and only the second track has existing items on it? The entire recording pass on the second track should be colored, but presumably not the recording pass on the first track. So you would end up with this (before and after): The red pass on the second track matches up with the uncolored pass on the first track.

So the logic is "color every recording pass that adds takes to existing items, even if it doesn't add takes on every track" ?
