hi all, im another newbie here well ive got the idea on what to do but think its cost me a dvd stand alone player first of all what ive done is used smart ripper to rip to my hdd then ive used dvd shrink to get what i want from dvd disc once that done ive burnt using nero express and both were successfull and played ok in my sony 710 player trouble is my brothers has 2 players one is a pannisonic region 2 player which wont play ither disc i burnt and the other is a bush dsl 710 which is mulitregion and played ok but trouble is once he tried to insert an original after watching both films his player wont play nothing now and asks for a disc even when an original is inserted ??????ive used data safe media discs (yellow n black in color) from silicon group. just to make sure i watched both films i copied namely star trek nemmisis r 1, and alien r2. and they both played ok on my sony stand alone and other discs played ok to , now my brother says his player wont even open ?????? any one had a similer problems?. im using the archos dvd-rw-ram cd-rom etc.... any feed back would be great >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>thanks all

First, calm down. Your first sentence went 7 lines long with no periods or commas. Breathe!! You may be dealing with some older or unusable standalone players. You might go to and lookup their list of DVD players (make/model) and check your brother's models out. There are other sites out there too that list known compatibility with DVD+/-R/W. You might also want to try burning with another program, other than Nero. Try to create an image (ISO) file from the DVDshrink output, and burn that with something like DVDDecrypter. Simple test. Until you figure out if it's a burner, software or player issue, I'd stick to DVD-RW's for testing. Unless you have money to waste on DVD-R blanks.

thanks for the tip but that will not fix dvd player ???.it doesnt play anything now .

Maybe it's just broken and it was just your brother's bad luck that it happened with your disc inserted ?

yes had a look inside it and it looks like the internal power supplys has fried but not the discs fault , any way may thanks for the replys , lets hope we can all assist each other in our wee hours of need lol. take care the now
