Hi all. Noob here....lol I started recording using Riffworks, moved onto Ableton and now I am really liking what I am seeing/hearing with Reaper. One question....and please don't flame me for it, I searched and still don't quite get it...... Why when I insert a REX files with the host tempo set t the specified REX file tempo....does it not play correctly? When I use DrumCore for example, no problem....but my other REX files are messed when I try to use them. Is it something simple that i am missing.......heck I even read through the user guide and did not see anything directly pertaining to REX file importing. Any help would be greatly appreciated!
They look OK here. Here is the first loop at three different tempos - each loop fits into 4 bars: Big pic: In the .rx2 slices (select one and click F2) - the timebase is "Beats (position only) so the slices should move apart/closer as the tempo is changed.
Re: crossfading, you will need to turn off autocrossfades (via the toolbar button) when editing REX slices. This is admittedly inconvenient, we should handle this by adding the ability to override autocrossfades per media item, so we'll do that soon. Re: selecting grouped items, you can select one and then ctrl+G will select the group (this is also available under "groups" in the item context menu).
Hi and welcome to Reaper and the forums :) Firstly I'm not a hardcore REX user. I tend to just use REX loops for drums. I have several of the Drums On Demand packs and I dont really edit any of the slices. I just drag and drop them around. I tend to drag and drop the loops from Media Explorer, then press CTRL-G to select the group of slices before moving them around. When I've got everything sorted out I then glue all the slices in the loop together to make a single item.
