I've been using Reaper for the last 4 or 5 months and I'm loving it! I ended up buying the full license because I'm really happy with this software. The only problem that I find (apart from the video support) is that the fade editor is really poor. When I'm doing edits for rock or pop it works great, but when working with classical music it really doesn't make it. I have to switch to pyramix or sequoia to be able to do this. When you select a fade in pyramix it opens a window in which you can scrub, move around, change the fade form, change the crossfade position and even the levels from each of the regions. Here is how the fade editor looks like.

Hi Guillermodezoq and welcome to the forums! Did you try the different fade-shapes? You can access them by right-clicking while the mouse pointer shows the crossfade symbol. There are at least a few shapes and they can be set independently for fade-in and fade-out of the crossfade. HTH -Data
It looks like it has a little bit more options than I thought, still not the same though. The faders that let you control all the fades and the entry-out level I think are pretty handy when you really want to do a perfect edit. Thanks for the responses!

It is also possible to do this with item volume envelopes which can also be right clicked to bring up curve options too and adapted to your liking by drawing them in (even when both items overlap as far as I remember) ;) I prefer this to a semi separate editor like I used in Nuendo 4, even the moving options and shifting can be done once you learn the modifier keys. if you you haven't already done this, selecting both items at once then adjusting the edge of one moves both, you can also shift where the fade is over which automatically adjusts the end and start to fit. and you can shift the contents too.

I think it's sort of nice to have a dedicated window for extra-detailed editing. Has anyone established a good workflow for crossfade editing with Reaper?
I BARELY understand what 'free positioning' is good for. What I meant above is that I wish I could set the autofade to allow for independent fade times. I hate to admit it, but I can't seem to let go of my idea of having 'pre-splice' fades happen by default. (so transients are not lost) This is a holdover from other apps, like PT/Nuendo. I'm sure there are workarounds in Reaper.. because there always are, but being able to set my autofades to happen PRE edit point, would rock my world.
