My 002r was in monitor mode, when it started to make that clicking sound, like when you power it up or change the clock. Then the mute button turned red, and I can't do anything. I tried powering it off for a while and back on without any firewire cable connected. All I get is a red mute button, and the unit is not responding at all. I would rush it to repair immediately, but it's weekend and of course I have a deadline hanging over my head. Any hints what might be going on very much appreciated!!

Do a search for "Power Harness" thats your problem. A quick fix for now, is to pop the top off, find the power harness, it starts at the rear plug. Remove each connector on the loom, and spray a little contact cleaner, and reseat all the plugs. I did this once 6 months ago, and have had no issues yet.

You are a hero! I am back in business. Thank you for taking the time to answer. The first connector I cleaned with contact spray did it. It was the one closest to the power plug. In other words, the loom goes from the plug to the power button, and from there to a small board on the side of the box. This is the connector I cleaned.
