[v2.55] I cannot edit "Empty" items - can someone remind me how? When I insert an Empty Item, only the Lock icon and item name appears in the item. I renamed reaper.ini and retried - same problem. [... or, what have I messed up?]

Now that you ask... has the option 'insert empty item' even been there pre 2.55? Maybe they have slipped over from the preview versions and are just without function in 2.x? To have a functional empty MIDI item to put events in, choose 'insert new MIDI item'.

Timeslip could be the answer :) Maybe, as you said, it's an early version in v2.55. Not to worry. I can wait.

Empty item is just that : empty. It's for placeholder etc purposes and has no function (except in the new builds for text notes), it's *not* an empty MIDI item. To create a new empty MIDI item, use the "insert new MIDI item" action.

That may be true now, but probably wasn't in 2009...
