Hello, In the past, I've recorded a dry track of audio, then put chains of outboard gear (eg. compressor + EQ) into Reainsert, ticked 'record output' and hit RECORD. Reaper would then generate another take - with the outboard effects added. I could then change compressors or anything else in the Reainsert chain, hit RECORD again - and then I'd have another take with the new outboard settings embodied in the next take. Made for a great way to A/B compressors, EQ settings, etc in the context of a mix. Somewhere along the line - this stopped working (v3 maybe?) - when I use Reainsert now in this way - the new take is always blank - no audio gets recorded. Does anyone know if something has changed - or is there a new way to do this? thanks, jon

I can't test it, but do you need/have monitoring on for that track?

I was tricked a while by the "Monitor track media while recording" option. You have to check it when recording the output, otherwise media on the track will not be sent to your outboard. Maybe it is as simple as that?

I think gofer may have it. I'm on the road by now - but I don't even recognize the 'monitor track media while recording' item - so I probably have not been selecting it...I'll give it a try. Thanks!

Hi, I found this thread after searching for a bit and I was wondering if somebody knows why does the level changes when recording the output. Is there anyway I can record the output of a track and preserve the same exact mix I had before "printing" my external inserts? Many Thanks!!!! Pupo
